Products for these markets face some of the toughest environmental and usage challenges imaginable. And in many cases reliability is literally a matter of life or death.

In use, but also during transport to and from the deployment zone, security and defence equipment will be subjected to extreme impact and vibration loadings.  Added to this are environmental challenges such as extremes of temperature and humidity – often with large diurnal variations – and the need to seal against water and particulate ingress.

For this arena we are designing products that must work, even if they have been sitting dormant for prolonged periods. They must be intuitive to use, easy to service and straightforward to repair in the field.  And they must achieve all this in situations where product misuse is inevitable.

So for these projects we employ our most vigorous risk management techniques founded on extensive use of FMEAs, computer simulation and practical rig and prototype testing.
