Illustrating a concept in such a way that accurately captures the functionality and the subtleties of the design intent requires skill, experience and ability. DCA’s design team combines traditional hand sketching and rendering skills with a broad range of 2D and 3D CAD illustration techniques. Each member of the design team has access to a high specification PC, industry standard 2D illustration packages and a selection of 3D CAD solid modelling, surface modelling and photorealistic rendering packages and hardware. This allows our designers to quickly illustrate concept ideas, different product colour ways, alternative material choices and concept form and function. More detailed rendering allows the subtle aspects of a concept to be realistically illustrated, including graphic and logo placement, surface finish, and the use of transparent and translucent materials.

In recent years, DCA has become expert in the generation of high quality 3D animations. This includes passenger transport ‘walk through’ scenarios, products rendered in their end use environment, moving vehicle animations and interactive, virtual user interface simulations.

Any combination of these visualisation and illustration techniques can be called upon as appropriate during a project. DCA also offer our visualisation skills as a stand alone service to clients who do not necessarily require design and engineering work to be undertaken.
