DCA is proud to announce that the new Air Wick Essential Mist fragrance diffuser has won a bronze award in the 2018 DBA Design Effectiveness Awards. The DBA Design Effectiveness Awards recognise impactful, wide-ranging examples of design that have had a tangible and measurable impact upon business success.

Working in partnership with the RB R&D and Global Design Management teams, DCA has designed the device and structural packaging for Air Wick’s next generation fragrance device.

Despite the plug-in scent market declining by 3.4%, sales of Air Wick’s new Scented Oil Warmer continue to rise. And it’s down to an innovative product design.

To drive brand loyalty with a best-in-class product, an oil warmer was created with five intensity controls to improve the fragrance experience. This USP was central to the design, and the plug-in also needed to suit different home styles with its aesthetic appeal.

Using neutral colours and a curved body, the new product mirrors the Air Wick family range and has a timeless feel to suit any home. It also has practical credentials with an easy-to-use control dial to adjust the fragrance intensity.

This new design has reduced Air Wick’s cost of goods of the product by 12% and improved the consumer’s running costs by 25%. As a brand, they saw a 2.5% global growth in the first 12 months since launch.
