DCA medical and scientific sectors, general hospital equipment
DCA have wide-ranging experience in hospital equipment design, including input to large system and machine design projects, such as the styling and ergonomics of radiotherapy simulators and the redesign of plasmapheresis apparatus. Further examples include the development of disposable sharps-bins, now used throughout the NHS, and an award-winning range of castors for inclusion on beds, trolleys and other hospital equipment.

Typical of DCA’s design work, the projects vary from complete turnkey product design through to consultancy input on individual development aspects, as required to meet client need. Work can include upgrading existing products to remove problems and to take on board new user requirements, or call for a complete realignment of a product that is losing ground to its competitors.

Ease and intuitiveness of use, together with safety and a robust and reliable cost-focused design and engineering solution, are key elements where the strength and experience of DCA’s industrial design and engineering teams can make a significant difference to products in this area.
