CAD based concept development

3D CAD is the backbone of our product development process. It allows us to communicate and exchange ideas efficiently and unambiguously with all project stakeholders. It is the key to our integrated approach to product development.

We use two class-leading CAD products at DCA, Pro/Engineer and SolidWorks, both operating within a common data management environment. This allows us to share CAD data throughout the development team, confident that everyone is accessing the same information. We also work to rigorous guidelines that define a consistent approach and quality of CAD modelling.

This is vital since high quality, reliable CAD data allows us to integrate development activities across all DCA’s skill areas. These include the direct CNC machining of components; the rapid protototyping of ergonomic assessment models; the simulation and analysis of mechanisms; the mechanical interfacing of PCB assemblies; or the production of photorealistic renderings to investigate alternative visual designs, finishes and colourways.
