DCA attends Geneva International Motor Show

The International Motor Show held in Geneva from the 9-19th March was not only celebrating its 87th year but was also showing more than 100 new cars for the first time.

Robin Spicer, one of our Industrial Designers attended the show this year to determine how the automotive industry is using materials, graphics, textures and manufacturing processes to achieve their latest creations.

Robin was particularly impressed with the Volvo, Citroen and Volkswagen models on display.  In his view Volvo’s attention to detail and the level of quality in their interiors puts them ahead of their competitors.  The Citroen visual brand language is thoroughly integrated across their entire range. Robin felt that when he was in any of their cars he naturally embraced their ideology and style.  Volkswagen’s usability was second to none, boasting gesture control, head-up displays (HUD) and autonomous driving concepts.  This forward thinking and understanding of the driver’s needs helps create a better driving experience in Robin’s opinion.

Robin felt overall that the 87th Geneva Motor Show had put on an exceptional exhibition giving the full automotive flavour of speed, power, form and finesse.
