DCA presents on design thinking to Emirates Group delegates

DCA’s Transport Sector Manager, Paul Rutter, was asked by Warwick Business School (WBS) to deliver a presentation to a cohort of approximately 25 mid- to senior managers from Emirates Group.

WBS has organised and run their very successful Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP) for Emirates for the past 7 years.  Paul’s presentation formed part of the session on design and design thinking run by Pietro Micheli, Ph.D., Professor of Business Performance and Innovation, during the two residential weeks held at Scarman House, which is part of the comprehensive on-site facilities at the Warwick University campus.

The session introduced concepts such as user-centred thinking, design iteration, and problem framing and solving. This was brought to life by Paul, who drew on his many years of first-hand experience to explain how design and its attendant creative processes can be used to develop ideas from the earliest concept into production reality using a mix of traditional and state of the art design methods, ranging from sketching and model making to digital rendering and virtual reality.

These messages were well received by the Emirates delegation and Pietro commented afterwards, “Paul’s presentation was excellent, not only because of the quality of the material and his ability as a speaker, but also because it provided a very clear illustration of DCA’s work which aligned nicely with what I had covered [in my introduction to the session].”
