Clerkenwell Design Week 2025

In 2025, the DCA design team celebrated their 11th year at Clerkenwell Design Week, embracing the festival’s dynamic and forward-thinking spirit. Renowned for promoting innovative design, the 2025 edition broadened its focus to highlight vibrant displays of textiles, innovative surfaces, and sustainable materials. These exhibitions offered valuable insights into the evolving design landscape, emphasising how creativity, craftsmanship, and technology are converging to shape the future of industrial design.

At Clerkenwell Design Week 2025, the British Collection celebrated high-quality British craftsmanship, highlighting exceptional work from leading UK designers and makers.

Dovetailors presented a range of meticulously crafted furniture that blends traditional woodworking techniques with modern design sensibilities. Benchmark also made a strong impression, unveiling new additions to their Victoria family of solid-wood furniture, emphasising adaptability and sustainability. Their showcase featured the Migo Stool by Pascal Hien, a piece that combines ergonomic design with the natural beauty of timber, reflecting Benchmark’s ethos of creating functional and environmentally conscious furniture.

These exhibits collectively underscored the British Collection’s dedication to celebrating innovation, sustainability, and craftsmanship in contemporary design.

The Light exhibition, a favourite among the team, showcased innovative and artistic lighting designs.

Curiousa debuted the Carnival chandelier from its Sculptural Stack series, which features a vibrant mix of hand-blown glass, wood, and porcelain, all inspired by Harlequin design. Artefact Lighting introduced the Rocco pendant, crafted from a natural blend of plaster, sand, and water, evoking the coastal landscapes of Dorset. Nordlux presented Aludra, a sleek garden light with a fluted structure that creates striking highlights and shadows.

Spark & Bell displayed Onyx, a collection of wall and pendant lights made from recycled CD cases, achieving a marble-like effect that emphasises sustainable design. Fabbian showcased Amulent, a luxurious crystal pendant characterised by hammered edges and brushed metal finishes.

Clerkenwell Design Week 2025 highlighted an exciting shift toward sustainability, craftsmanship, and forward-thinking innovation. From lighting made with recycled CDs to textiles woven from post-consumer waste, the creative reuse of materials stood out as a major theme. Hand-crafted designs and artisanal techniques were celebrated. The integration of smart technology and eco-conscious materials further underscored the industry’s move toward circular design and carbon-conscious solutions. It was a vibrant, inspiring showcase of what’s next in design—and the team is already looking forward to returning to Clerkenwell next year.

Our traditional social gathering once again provided the perfect opportunity to unwind, reflect on the highlights, and reconnect with familiar faces, including colleagues, clients, and long-time friends. We are already looking forward to next year with excitement, ready to return, re-engage, and be inspired by everything that Clerkenwell Design Week has to offer.
