Encouraging the next generation of engineers to design a more sustainable future

This week, Dai Sanders, one of DCA’s senior sector managers for consumer, was invited as a guest lecturer at the University of Warwick Engineering Design course. He first offered insights into how DCA approach product design and development, then primarily focused on encouraging the students to tackle sustainability by considering design for longevity in their future projects. This forum provided an opportunity to further communicate our PAST™ framework to a new audience. Previously Dai has had the opportunity to communicate the power of the PAST™ framework to companies and brand owners who currently have the power to influence a shift to more sustainable products. This latest opportunity to communicate  PAST™ to future engineering professionals was particularly rewarding, as it is critically important to seed the principles of designing for longevity within the minds of the next generation, who will be responsible for re-imagining and shaping a better world.
