DCA present at the Railway Interiors Show in Prague

Published on: 5th November 2015

Paul Rutter, our Transport Sector Manager, gave a presentation at this year’s Railway Interiors Show. This biennial event is organised around a conference agenda that covers all aspects of interior design for trains from all corners of the world. A broad range of speakers were invited to discuss current design topics alongside the show exhibition, which was held for the first time in Prague.

Paul explained how the Hitachi Class 800 Intercity Trains were designed to meet the requirements of a multi-user, stakeholder driven project organised to meet the constraints of a government led procurement process. This level of commercial complexity is becoming a common feature of large public transport projects and requires the design team to co-ordinate and clearly communicate all the aspects of the train design from the initial concepts through human factors assessment to detailed engineering to all interested parties.

Paul demonstrated in his presentation how the use of full size mock ups of increasing fidelity at each stage of the project remains a powerfully persuasive communication aid, especially when dealing with so many user groups and project stakeholders.
