The Stratasys Fortus 250 FDM machine in DCA's rapid prototyping lab

Further rapid prototyping expansion to the DCA prototyping workshop

Published on: 4th February 2016

The start of the year saw DCA further enhance our in-house FDM facilities with the acquisition of a state-of-the-art Stratasys Fortus 250.

Adding to our existing Projet and Dimension machines, the Fortus 250 builds upon DCA’s capability to produce rapid prototype parts quickly and efficiently as an integrated part of our product design and development services. The Fortus 250 provides three layer resolution options, a large build envelope, multiple material colours and the facility to produce prototype parts in production grade ABSplus material. It also uses a soluble support material for fast and efficient hands free model removal, while its Insight software provides us with high levels of control over the build process.

The Fortus 250 will be a welcome addition to DCA’s workshop facilities particularly for our industrial design team, since the FDM technology provides robust prototype parts quickly and to an accuracy and surface finish suitable for the early assessment of many parts and assemblies.

With further major investments planned in the first half of 2016 this is an exciting time for DCA’s prototyping team.
