The Dräger X-plore 8300 is a new Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) that provides robust protection against hazardous airborne particles, in one the most compact and lightweight forms on the market. It has been designed for demanding, dust-heavy environments and is well-suited for applications such as construction, demolition, metalworking, woodworking and various pharmaceutical and medical settings.
The device achieves Ingress Protection IP67, giving it complete protection against ingress of dust and airborne particles, as well as protection against water and liquids, up to and including immersion in up to 1 metre of water. Enabling easier cleaning and decontamination, the device is also machine washable with its integrated battery.

The design of the X-plore 8300 also facilitates easy cleaning, with minimal sharp edges, undercuts, and hard-to-reach areas to streamline the process of decontamination.
The user interface is simple and highly readable. It features a single-button operation that allows users to easily turn the device on/off and adjust the blower speed effortlessly.
The new X-plore 8300 PAPR has been designed with usability at its core. A prime example of this is the intuitive bayonet opening for filter removal, which allows users to easily replace the filter even while wearing gloves - unlike competitors that rely on small buttons for filter retention. The filter size has also been carefully considered, ensuring it can be easily gripped, even by smaller hands.
The filter is securely held in place by the hose connection, preventing accidental dislodging and ensuring safe operation of the PAPR system. In contrast to its predecessor, this device features integrated belt loops, reducing the number of components that need to be disassembled for cleaning and minimising the risk of losing or breaking parts.

The X-plore 8300 exemplifies a repairable device built for longevity and sustainability. Its easily replaceable components, like the battery, blower unit, PCB, gasket and housing encourage users to make repairs instead of discarding the entire unit. When a part malfunctions, a straightforward swap with a new component restores functionality, helping to minimise waste. Spare parts are offered by Dräger Service.
Sustainability was a key focus for Dräger in developing this new PAPR. The unit has been designed and engineered for exceptional robustness, featuring a rounded, edge-free form and constructed from one of the most durable, impact-modified glass-filled nylons available. Advanced moldflow analysis was employed to optimise fibre orientation, reinforcing critical areas to withstand repeated shocks and stresses in harsh environments.
This precision engineering ensures that the PAPR remains lightweight yet highly resilient, offering both long-term durability and user comfort during extended wear. Dräger’s design thus balances toughness with sustainability, reducing the need for frequent replacements and supporting a longer product lifecycle.
