EC450AJ Compact Articulating Boom Lift

Measuring just 2 meters wide and featuring true zero tail swing, 4-wheel drive and an oscillating axle, the all-electric EC450AJ Compact articulated boom lift delivers exceptional agility and stability, making it ideal for confined spaces and challenging terrain. 

As one of the lightest articulated boom lifts in its class, it also provides significant transport advantages. Two units can be loaded onto a standard low-bed trailer, reducing logistics costs and increasing deployment flexibility. Its fully electric powertrain offers zero emissions, reduced noise and fast onboard charging, supporting environmentally focused operations without compromising performance.

DCA collaborated closely with JLG to transition the platform to a fully electric architecture. This shift required a complete structural redesign, going far beyond the removal of the internal combustion engine. By relocating major components from the turret into newly developed chassis-side pods, both visual bulk and physical mass were significantly reduced, while lowering the centre of gravity for improved stability.

These side pods also enabled new opportunities for wraparound bodywork. Integrated quarter panels can house a distinctive ground-lighting system, giving the machine a recognisable aesthetic edge and reinforcing JLG’s commitment to modern, functional design. New structural concepts for both the turret and chassis were developed to simplify construction while also facilitating the machine’s new compact, lightweight aesthetic.

To support the EC450AJ Compact’s zero tail swing capability, DCA optimised the counterbalance weight to ensure peak manoeuvrability within the machine’s own footprint. Throughout development, we took account of every aspect of motion, including axle tilt, wheel pivot and turret rotation, to maintain full mechanical clearance and operational reliability.

The result is a highly efficient, future-ready boom lift that combines advanced engineering with clean, automotive-inspired styling. Featuring a refined turret, streamlined bodywork and premium headlight design, the EC450AJ Compact sets a new standard in electric access equipment.
