Professional tools and hardware

How can the design of a new tool improve a professional tradesman’s efficiency, safety and morale? How does the context of use influence its design? Who owns the tool and who else derives value from it?

From the ubiquitous Stanley Knife to industry specific tools, DCA has extensive experience of designing professional products that allow tradesmen to work more effectively.

First, we use task analyses, anthropometric reviews and stakeholder interviews to understand the end user in context. Once the value hierarchy and human factors parameters are defined, we create, develop and validate concepts through iterative loops of prototyping and usability trials.

We continuously drive robustness and manufacturing efficiencies into the design ensuring the solution is reliable, cost effective and desirable, while delivering value to the end user and other stakeholders.
