DCA Packaging Futures Award at New Designers

Published on: 27th June 2021

DCA are looking forward to announcing the winner of the DCA Packaging Futures Award this Wednesday 30th June, 8.00 pm at New Designers 2021.

DCA are proud to be championing and celebrating the future of design and innovation at New Designers 2021. New Designers provides a unique platform for fresh design talent to connect with design educators, professionals and consumers, for creative exchange and collaboration. DCA challenged the next generation of creatives to design a new FMCG product or packaging system to help shift consumer behaviours to a more sustainable future.

Judged by our leading FMCG experts, Peter Kay and Dai Sanders, who have been responsible for bringing some of the most iconic FMCG brands to market over the last 30 years, students were asked to design a new FMCG product/packaging system to help shift consumer behaviours to a more sustainable future. It is widely acknowledged that design can play a significant role in helping to reverse the negative impact of our current consumption behaviours. We wanted the students to create a believable design vision that offers a model for future generations.

The DCA Packaging Futures Award will be presented to the individual who can demonstrate that their design solution offers a unique FMCG product experience while addressing the issue of sustainability. We look forward to Wednesday evening!

Alongside the DCA sponsored award, Dai Sanders will be hosting an online talk about sustainability in practice on Thursday 1st July at 3pm BST as part of ND Educates.

His talk will consider the role of designers and retailers in creating a sustainable world for the consumer. Whether through the design of their products, retail spaces or use of innovative materials, meet two brands DCA and Hallmark who are actively focussing on sustainability in their designs.
