Introducing local students to product design career options

Published on: 31st May 2017

Warwick School careers fair was a busy night, with 126 exhibitors and over 400 visitors.  Our team, of designers and engineers managed to speak to lots of male and female students from both Warwick School and King’s High School, as well as their parents and teachers.

The DCA stand attracted a lot of interest in the different products we had on display, with visitors, particularly interested in what part we had played in the development of the final products and what market sectors we specialise in. The enthusiasm of the DCA staff for product design was infectious and it was great to see how many students left our stand with a newfound interest in engineering and design. The GCSE students were keen to know what A-levels they would need to take to get the foundations in place for a potential career within mechanical engineering or industrial design while the A-level students were keen to know what universities and degree courses we would recommend for a potential career in product design consultancy.

Overall, it was a very successful evening.  We definitely encouraged many students to seriously consider careers in engineering or design, hopefully helping to close the growing skill gap in these areas.
