Delivering complex projects with multiple stakeholder groups

In this article published in Modern Railways Magazine, Rob Bassil, DCA's Technical Director, describes how DCA engaged with key stakeholders during the IEP train interiors project.

From the outset four separate review groups were established; three to represent the interests of drivers, operating staff and passengers, while the fourth was an interior style review group. The project was planned so that every step of the way we presented tangible results that the stakeholder groups could review. Physical models, mock ups and prototypes were introduced as early as possible to support a range of human factors and interior design assessments and refined throughout the programme. The end result was a more inclusive design that incorporated input from all the key stakeholders and ensured their buy-in to the end result.
